Pre-Match Positivity Ahead of Sandwich Town vs Chilham Reserves

Pre-Match Positivity Ahead of Sandwich Town vs Chilham Reserves

The SMASH Agency19 Sep - 09:34

Interview with First Team Manager, Marc Taylor

With Sandwich Town’s first team back on home turf tomorrow, spirits are high as they prepare to welcome Chilham Reserves – a side new to the league, and to Sandwich’s players. Manager Marc Taylor sat down to share his thoughts ahead of the clash. The match is being played at Sir Roger Manwoods School, Sandwich

Marc, the lads have had a positive start to the season. What’s the mood like going into this weekend?
“The mood is very good. We’re pleased with the way we’ve started, but we’re also very aware that each weekend brings new challenges. Chilham Reserves are a new side for us, which always makes it interesting. We don’t know exactly what to expect, so our focus is on getting our own game right.”

What’s the approach going to be on the day?
“I keep saying to the lads that every game has to be treated like a cup final. It doesn’t matter if we’re playing a side we know well, or one that’s completely new to us – the mindset has to stay the same. We need to be sharp from the first whistle, disciplined across the pitch, and committed to producing a positive result.”

You’ve mentioned training. How important is it for carrying momentum into matchday?
“Very. We’ve got another tough training session lined up, and I want to see the energy and standards we set there carried straight into the game. Training is where the habits are built – the pressing, the passing, the communication – and if we can transfer that intensity into Saturday, we give ourselves the best chance.”

Back at the Butts tomorrow – how much of a lift does home advantage give?
“It’s always special to play at home. The pitch, the supporters, the familiar surroundings – it all gives the lads that extra push. We’ll be aiming to start quickly, get on the front foot, and really use that home advantage to set the tone.”

And your final thoughts ahead of kick-off?
“It’s another opportunity for us to show what we can do, to keep building as a team, and to enjoy being out there together. If we stay focused and play to our strengths, I’m confident we’ll put in a strong performance.”
