Pre-Match Report: The Clash at Sir Roger Manwood’s

The SMASH Agency12 Oct - 08:15

Sandwich Town FC v's East Kent FC - Sunday 12th October, 10:30 AM. Jack Curtis Manager, Sandwich Town FC Sunday

This Sunday morning, as most of Sandwich will be nursing a cuppa or a hangover, a group of brave (and possibly still half-asleep) heroes will take to the hallowed turf of Sir Roger Manwood’s to face the mighty East Kent FC. Kick-off is at 10:30 AM, which gives everyone just enough time to find their shin pads and question their life choices.

Our lads are coming in full of something, whether it’s confidence, caffeine, or leftover curry, no one’s quite sure, but one thing’s guaranteed: we’re ready for battle.

Between the sticks, we’ve got Ben Gooden, the safest pair of hands this side of the Stour, assuming he remembered to set his alarm this week. Expect him to command the box, shout at defenders, and maybe even save a few shots for good measure.

Leading the line, Luke Howe will be hoping to bag a few goals… preferably before his post-match Guinness. Rumour has it he’s promised one pint for every goal, so here’s hoping the bar’s well-stocked.

On the wing, Tommy Park is set to cause chaos down the flanks, leaving defenders dizzy, confused, and possibly in need of counselling. If there’s space to run into, you can bet Tommy’s already halfway there.

And holding it all together (or at least trying to) is our fiery skipper Henry, who’s on a mission this week to keep his cool for a full 90 minutes, bookies currently offering long odds on that one.

The lads have been training hard (or at least talking about training hard), and the gaffer’s got a plan so cunning it could have been drawn up by a fox with a clipboard.

So grab your coats, bring your best side line banter, and come down to Sir Roger Manwood’s this Sunday to cheer the boys on. Expect goals, drama, and possibly a few “how did he miss that?!” moments.

See you at 10:30 AM sharp, bring the noise, bring the energy, and let’s make East Kent wish they’d stayed in bed.
