Sandwich Town Women’s 9 – 5 Sheppey United Dev - A post match report from Lily Fairclough, Manager, Sandwich Town Women’s

What a way to begin our journey. Sandwich Town Women’s kicked off our very first competitive match, and our debut season, in emphatic style with a thrilling 9–5 victory. Not only was this our league debut, it was also the first-ever competitive fixture for a women’s team in the club’s history, making it a day we’ll never forget.

It was far from straightforward, though. At half-time the score was locked at 4–4, and it was clear we were in for a real battle. But with no subs to call upon, every single player dug deep. As the minutes ticked by, our confidence grew, our composure settled, and we began to take control of the game.

Summer Loxley lit up the pitch with five superb goals, Filey Aldis powered through with a well-earned hat-trick, and I managed to add one myself. But make no mistake, this win was all about the collective effort. We showed real grit, refused to let tired legs stop us, and kept pressing until the final whistle.

Scorers: Summer Loxley (5), Filey Aldis (3), Lily Fairclough (1)

A huge shoutout to the whole team: the togetherness, the belief, and the energy from start to finish made this a performance to be proud of. Playing 90 minutes without fresh legs is no easy task, but we did it, and we’ve set the standard for what’s to come.

Here’s to more history-making moments ahead!

— Lily Fairclough, Manager, Sandwich Town Women’s
