After the Sandwich Town Under 15s match against Margate Youth Under 15s White, Manager Gary Pettman had the following word about the performance:

This week we welcomed Margate for our first cup game of the season, playing Margate is never an easy game as they have so many strong competitive teams and players across all the leagues so we knew we would be in for a challenging game, but the boys produced an impressive performance to secure a 2-0 entertaining win and a place in the next round of the FA county cup.

Sandwich town started brightly with a new look formation, players in new positions across the pitch, playing quick balls forward and using our pace to our advantage and getting some good crosses into Margate's box, but with some good defending and some good saves from the keeper Sandwich couldn't get that ball over the line.

Margate looked dangerous going forward but our impressive defence stood strong which meant the teams went in at halftime 0-0, all to play for in the 2nd half.

The second half saw Sandwich start strong again having slightly more possession than Margate and creating more chance's in front of goal. We then broke the deadlock with 20 minutes to go with a good run and a great lobbed finish by our forward Kai , the pressure was now on Margate and they attacked and pushed more players forward looking for the equaliser.

This was always going to be risky against a Sandwich team with so much pace and with only 10 minutes to go Sandwich broke away and won a corner and with the resulting corner Eli scored a great header to make it 2-0 to Sandwich.

Margate looked to respond quickly and had chances, hitting the cross bar, missing an open goal and having one cleared of the line but we remained organised at the back to see out the game and take the win.

There were strong performances throughout the team, with great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, the boys worked hard for each other and deserved the win.

MOTM : if Darren had his way, he would pick them all , but this week's award goes to Brody who played in a position which he'd not played before and had a great game using the ball well out to the wide players and made some good covering tackles.
