Match Report from Gary Pettman, Under 15s Manager.

Today Sandwich town travelled to Chartham for their 1st away game of the season.

Sandwich started brightly playing quick balls forward and getting some good crosses into the box, but with some good saves from the Chartham Goalkeeper and the woodwork keeping us out, Sandwich couldn't get that goal to take the lead.

Chartham looked dangerous going forward but with some good saves from our Goalkeeper the sides went in at halftime 0-0.
The 2nd half, started the same, Sandwich with a lot of the ball but only having 11 players and now playing uphill the task was going to be huge for the boys/ While we had a lot of the ball we couldn't really do anything with it, then we let Chartham into the game and for the rest of the 2nd half they had us on the run knowing we were running on empty and playing uphill.
The decisive goal came after Sandwich had a decent attack building but few wayward passes and our heads started to drop and the communication went and Chartham caught us on the counter attack and with a lovely finish taking the lead with only 4 minutes to go.
Sandwich tried and tried but the last 4 minutes Chartham had everyone back and their goalkeeper still having a great game keeping 2 more shots out, punched a great cross away and defended 2 more corners.

Unlucky and well done boys we go again next week.

Whilst the result didn't go our way the boys performed amazingly and I cannot fault their effort.

MOTM : this week the award goes to Brody for picking the right pass, great long balls forward and deliveries into the box from open play and free kicks, dropped in and out of midfield and defence at the right times.
