What a start we made in the first half. We played some outstanding football at times & dominated for large spells with the ball been played around the park superbly. We broke with pace & purpose & looked so dangerous going forward..
At the back, Cam & Finn were composed with Harrison using his height & strentgh to help out. Jasper at LB had a good game & linked well with Jeff moving the ball forward.
Stan was a rock.
Louis in the middle of the park wouldn't have looked out of place in the prem. His vision has got better, but the trust he has in his team mates showed through as well with his link up play with Oscar an highlight.
Jeff is Jeff! This kid just does not stop running.
At 3-0 up I made the decision (which now proves costly) to make 5 changes which impacted on the stability & performance. I should have staggered the subs. I could not fault the efforts of those that came on, but having to try & replicate that first half performance was always going to be difficult.

I did make further changes with 10mins to go with the score now at 4-4.
There were a couple of contentious calls from the ref & their linesman, but that doesn't take away the fact that it was another defeat.
But there are far more positives to take away from this game then there are negatives.
Seeing the boys play a 4-4-3 formation & not the the 3-5-2 we played last season looks like it could work with the team/squad we now have.
Hopefully we can build on that first half performance next weekend & get that first win.
Finally, a big shout out to Herne Bay. They also played some good football at times & credit to them for fighting for the result, but did it the right way.
